RTC updated requirements

We have a new version of the requirements for the turbines, this version has some more details and confirmed demands.
Besides these specs we have the type of pneumatic connectors that will be used 'Stäubli RCS-06'. The turbines will need to be equipped with a male connector.

The Maintenace Crew

We have visited The Maintenace Crew yesterday. This is a team of young enthusiast engineering students from the Albeda College. They had some great innovative ideas for their Tesla Turbine. It looks like this years competition of the Rotterdam Turbine Challenge will be an exiting event!

The team members are:
Joshua vd Blink
Lorenzo Boeiens
Marijn vd Zijde
Paddy Bode
Sander Durieux

Two days of Nederland Innoveert

Today and yesterday the event Nederland Innoveert took place at the Onderzeebootloods (the old subnarine shipyard) in Rotterdam. We did two workshops/demo's and had a stand at the RDM Centre of Expertise. The workshops didn't seem to attract a lot of people but the stand was visited very often.

The stand was manned by Lodewijk Voorhoeve of team Omega, Marc van der Meijde and Emile Jackson.

We also met several teachers who were interested in attending the Rotterdam Turbine Challenge with groups of pupils. Next week we will do some visits at different schools.

Rotterdam Turbine Challenge on Nederland Innoveert

Next friday and saturday the Dutch event "Nederland Innoveert" will be held on the RDM Campus in Rotterdam. On friday and saturday Lodewijk Voorhoeve (2014 team Omega) and Emile Jackson (RDM Centre of Expertise / Community of Practice Energy & Procestechnology) will give a demonstration of Tesla turbines.

Rotterdam Turbine Challenge 2015

On the 2nd of July the 2nd Rotterdam Turbine Challenge will take place on the RDM Campus in Rotterdam. Two new teams and one team of last year have subscribed to the Challenge.

More info about the teams will follow.

RTC2014 Building plans

Four teams attended the Rotterdam Turbine Challenge in 2014. Team Black Turbine won the challenge because their turbine offered the most power under given circumstances. Team Omega delivered the most flexible design for further research with a 3d-printable nozzle.

All four designs are added to the collection of open design building plans and will be used for the next generation of Tesla turbines.

First was team Black Turbine:

Team Omega, also named in an earlyer blog:

Two other teams also provided very well working Tesla Turbines. These turbines gave less power given the circumstances. With other circumstances this could be different. In example, the turbine of Tesla team 1 has larger blades so it can maybe provide more torque, though we didn't test this.
Team 1 was sponsored by Nootenboom Machine factory.

The Tesla bazen team had some bad luck during the match. The turbine worked pretty well during earlyer tests and was sponsored by IHC-Merwede and Biezepol.
